Drunk Driver Plows Into Police Cruiser: Cops

Matthew Krahling was charged after allegedly rear-ending a cruiser at a stop light while police were involved in a DWI enforcement patrol.

MANCHESTER, NH — A local man was charged and released on a summons after allegedly rear-ending a police cruiser in the Queen City, according to police. Matthew Krahling, 30, of Manchester, was charged on Feb. 11, 2018, for operating under the influence. He was released later on a summons and is due in Manchester District Court on Feb. 27.

According to police, a sergeant working a DWI Special Enforcement Patrol was parked in a marked cruiser at a traffic light on South Willow Street at around 12:15 a.m. when he noticed a vehicle approaching, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department.

“He noted the car was operating erratically prior to striking his cruiser, but was unable to move his car before impact was made,” O’Keefe alleged.

Other units was called to the scene and another officer determined Krahling was allegedly impaired so he was taken into custody and charged.

“Krahling caused damage to the front of his 2003 Honda Accord and the rear of the police cruiser, which is currently out of service as a result of the crash,” O’Keefe stated. “The Honda was towed from the scene while the police car was driven to fleet services. There were no reported injuries.”
