5 Fun Local Easter Weekend Activities

We found some fun, interesting things to keep you occupied this weekend.

1. Watch girls get tough! The women of Granite State Roller Derby will open their second season on April 7 at the Everett Arena in Concord. The “Sibling Rivalry” themed bout features a rematch against the Queen City Cherry Bombs, a team from New Hampshire Roller Derby of Manchester. Local favorite Captain Chet Lawson's Snake Oil Review will perform at halftime. Doors open to the public at 6 p.m.; the game begins at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the league’s website, granitestaterollerderby.com

2. Fun photo opputunity! The Anheuser-Busch Merrimack brewery lets guests pose for photos with a world-famous Budweiser Clydesdale on the first Saturday of the month. These "gentle giants" have been an Anheuser-Busch symbol of tradition since the first Clydesdale hitch and a red beer wagon paraded to celebrate the repeal of Prohibition in 1933. You can also take a tour and even sample some of the fine beers crafted right here in New Hampshire.

3. Egg-stra! Egg-stra! Read all about it!  Charmingfare Farm in Candia, NH presents it’s . This year’s hunt we be the biggest event yet! Over $75,000.00 in prizes is up for grabs. Every child will receive a special prize bag. The Egg Hunt runs Saturday between the hours of 10am and 3pm. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for the Egg-Citing event.

4. Dinner and a movie! Chunky's Cinema Restaurant in Nashua is a great alternative to the usual movie-going experience. Combine the meal and movie into one great experience, with super-comfortable seating on top of it all. See Titanic in 3D, the hilarious 21 Jump Street or the popular Hunger Games. 5. Nice figure! Make your way to the Currier Museum for their Art Center Workshop: Figure Drawing Boot Camp! This “boot camp” is designed for teens and adults who are serious about art and are interested in having nude figure work as part of their portfolio, as well as for professional artists to have the opportunity to have an intensive day of figure study. The day will be broken up into segments: short gestural poses to free everyone up and “get loose” interspersed with longer sustained poses so that all can explore tonal relationships, light, proportion, line quality, figure structure and anatomy.
