Bennett and a passenger were outside of the Jeep just after the crash. Just as first responders arrived, according to Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography, who shot these pictures and video, Bennett allegedly began to overdose and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the driver of the Grand Am from the vehicle. He was then rushed to the hospital. The passenger of the Jeep was questioned and treated at the scene. Bennett was charged later, according to police.

U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-NH, was on a ride around with Manchester Police at the time of the crash. Before arriving at the scene of the crash, Hastings noted, she and first responders were at the scene of another overdose.
