Eversource Commits To Puerto Rico Aid Efforts
Company responds to Gov. Chris Sununu's call to NH businesses for support for the U.S. territory.

MANCHESTER, NH — Eversource is providing a comprehensive response to the call for critical resources to meet humanitarian needs in Puerto Rico, including responding to Gov. Chris Sununu's request to New Hampshire businesses by contributing $25,000 to the American Red Cross in New Hampshire, according to a press statement. This contribution is part of an overall company commitment to donate a total of $75,000 to organizations supporting Puerto Rico relief efforts in the three states that Eversource serves. Eversource is closely monitoring the restoration planning efforts for Puerto Rico with other U.S. electric utilities as part of a coordinated national mutual aid response.
"The widespread devastation Hurricane Maria caused in Puerto Rico will require a multifaceted response," said Eversource New Hampshire President Bill Quinlan. "We're pleased Governor Sununu has taken the lead to encourage the Granite State business community to help those in desperate need of resources. Financial commitments are important to ensure organizations are able to provide Puerto Rico with the resources they need-but as the region's largest energy company, we believe we can do more." The company stands ready to assist with the restoration effort, if requested. Eversource was proud to help get the power back on for thousands of Florida customers in September as part of one of the country's largest restoration efforts in U.S. history after Hurricane Irma, and was part of the effort to rebuild the energy system in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Georges in 1998.

Eversource employees will be collecting nonperishable items at local work centers. Separately, the company continues to encourage customers, contractors, and their family and friends to make a financial contribution to the relief effort through the American Red Cross website. These funds will enable the American Red Cross to provide shelter, meals and care for thousands of people facing this difficult recovery.
