Fight By Partygoers Leads To Shooting In Queen City

Breaking: Good Samaritan reportedly shot trying to breakup incident. Police are looking for a skinny, young African-American in a tank top.

MANCHESTER, NH — A shooting this morning in Manchester led to at least one person being injured and a manhunt for a possible suspect, according to police. Officers were sent to Willow Street just off the intersection of Pine Street at around 2:15 a.m. on June 2, 2017, for a report of a shooting. Officers arrived at the scene and found the remnants of a large party that had taken place at an address.

“Some witnesses reported that they initially believed the sounds to be fireworks, while others described hearing gunshots and seeing a flash of light consistent with the muzzle blast of a firearm,” according to Sgt. Ken Loui of the Manchester Police Department. “As officers continued investigating, they found evidence that a shooting had in fact taken place, but despite an extensive canvas of the area, they found no injured parties. Officers were also told that there had been a large fight, and that this fight preceded and may have precipitated the shooting.”

While at the scene investigating, security at Elliot Hospital reported that a gunshot victim had arrived at the ER with injuries. The 45-year-old man was questioned and reportedly stated that he was at the party and had attempted to break up a fight between a large group of people assaulting one of the partygoers. After breaking up the incident, an unknown man “started firing a handgun at the ground and a nearby wall multiple times,” according to the man. The man realized he was shot and was driven to the hospital by a friend, according to the report.
