Filmmaker Arrested After Damaging Wall Inside NH City Hall: Cops

Daniel Berube was arrested earlier this month on a criminal mischief charge after a meeting with Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig.

MANCHESTER, NH — As the saying goes, you can’t fight city hall … and you can’t vandalize it, either. One local man – Daniel Berube, 54 – is learning that lesson the hard way after being arrested for allegedly causing damage to a wall outside of the city clerk’s office on March 1, 2018, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department. A warrant was issued for Berube and he turned himself in on March 6.

Berube – the chairman of the Manchester Arts Commission, at the time, and a local filmmaker – reportedly left a meeting with Mayor Joyce Craig and allegedly damaged the wall at around 11 a.m. on March 1, as he exited the building. Part of the alleged vandalism was caught on a security camera, posted on YouTube by the New Hampshire Union Leader.

The damage, according to O’Keefe, was estimated to be around $350 to $400, so a police report was filed the next day.
