Five-Vehicle Crash in Bedford Sends Four to the Hospital

Breaking: Police are investigating the cause of the incident on Aug. 4. Route 101 was closed for more than two hours.

BEDFORD, NH — Four people were injured this morning in a five-vehicle crash incident on Route 101 in Bedford, according to police. Officers and fire and rescue teams were sent to the highway, near the Hill-Brook Motel, at around 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 4, 2016, after receiving numerous reports about the crash.

“A preliminary investigation indicates that a black Jeep was traveling eastbound on Route 101 when it crossed the double-yellow line and grazed a parcel truck before striking three other vehicles, all in the westbound lane,” according to a statement from Chief John Bryfonski of the Bedford Police Department. “The driver of the parcel truck was not injured, but the drivers of all four other vehicles were injured and transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester. One of the drivers of the westbound vehicles sustained serious injuries.”

Route 101 was closed for about two and half hours, according to police. The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is being cased to call police at 603-472-5113.
