Free Education Series Offers Skills to Dementia Caregivers

Essential Skills for Family Caregivers workshop begins on March 3.

BEDFORD, NH - The Alzheimer’s Association is presenting a series of workshops on Essential Skills for Family Caregivers.

The first workshop in this series will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016,at the Alzheimer’s Association,166 South River Road in Bedford. Two additional workshops will follow at the same time and place April 7 and May 5.

The Essential Skills for Family Caregivers series provides education and practical tools to those caring for someone with dementia, according to a press statement. The goal of the series is to improve day-to-day living and overall quality of life for the person with dementia and the caregiver. The series covers communication techniques, strategies to manage difficult behaviors and safety in the home. Essential Skills is free and intended for family caregivers.

The Alzheimer’s Association, with headquarters in Watertown, has regional offices in Springfield, Raynham, and Worcester, MA and Bedford. The Alzheimer Association provides services and programs for those with Alzheimer’s, family and professional caregivers in the form of support groups, a 24/7 Helpline, care consultation, advocacy efforts, research funding and education programs.
