Granite United Way Welcomes New Board Members

Bedford, Hopkinton, and Gorham residents join board.

Three new members have been appointed to the board of directors for the Granite United Way.

Jason E. Cole of Bedford, Heather Staples Lavoie of Hopkinton, and Janet Nickerson of Gorham, were all named to the board recently.

Lavoie serves as President and COO of Geneia, a healthcare innovations company where she is responsible for launching and supporting new products and services as well as helping health care organizations transform the way they deliver care. Her career spans more than 25 years in health care, leading start-ups, health plans, and provider organizations as well as initiatives to identify and replicate best practices in health care use and delivery, according to a statement. She had been a member of the Board of Directors of the former United Way of Merrimack County.

Nickerson serves as the Program Director at Northern Human Services and where she has been helping individuals and families for the past 20 years. She is a strong supporter of United Way. She has served as a volunteer as Chair of the Community Impact Committee for United Way in the Northern Region, according to a statement. In 2013, Nickerson was presented with the Caring Award from Granite United Way for her tireless work and dedication to New Hampshire’s Northern Region.

Cole is a member of Devine Millimet’s Tax, Non-Profit, and Merger and Acquisitions practice groups. He joined the firm with an accounting, business, and banking background. With an MBA and as a Certified Public Accountant, his practice focuses on federal and state taxation, business transactions, and general corporate compliance. His clients range from small and medium-sized businesses to large for-profit and non-profit organizations.

Patrick Tufts, the president and CEO of Granite United Way, welcomed all the new board members noting that they had expertise in the fields, were committed to their communities, and would be valuable members of the board.
