Grant Boosts Girl Scouts' New Customer Engagement Initiative

BEDFORD, NH - A generous grant from the NH Charitable Foundation will solidify Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains’ efforts to strengthen adult volunteer involvement.

This week, council officials announced the receipt of a $25,000 grant. Grant monies will be used to implement the new Customer Engagement Initiative in the coming year. The Customer Engagement Initiative (CEI) is a multi-faceted, technology-based platform involving the creation of a robust and user-friendly web system that’s aimed at bringing the Girl Scout experience to volunteers in a more customer-centric manner. In doing so, CEI will support a new way of doing business while reducing costs and increasing both efficiency and overall impact.

Patricia K. Mellor, the council’s chief executive officer, said in a press statement, that this implementation of CEI is vital for Girl Scouts, as the majority of programs are volunteer-delivered.

“We are committed to offering outcomes-based leadership development curriculum to local girls,” Mellor said. “With growing numbers of New Hampshire girls on wait lists for programming, combined with adult volunteers increasingly stretched in terms of time and resources, it is critical we adopt this new system of volunteer engagement now.”

In May, Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains’ (GSGWM’s) Board of Directors committed to investing $135,000 this year to launch CEI. Preliminary work is currently underway: the program is expected to go live in early spring.

The NH Charitable Foundation Grant was made possible by gifts from the Lois G. Roy Dickerman Fund, according to Katie Merrow, the Foundation’s vice president of community impact. Dickerman, a former Radio City Music Hall Rockette and philanthropist who died in 2009 at the age of 103, created the fund to serve children and families around the Granite State.
