Great NH Restaurants Hosts 'Schools Out' Etch A Sketch Contest
Etch A Sketch hits 55 year milestone on July 12.

For many years, creating happy doodles on an Etch A Sketch has been a favorite family ritual during an outing at all T-BONES and Cactus Jack’s Restaurants. Starting on July 12th, children 12 and under (with the help of their parents!) can take a picture of their Etch A Sketch masterpiece and post it on Facebook at facebook.com/TBONES.CJS, according to a press statement.
Simply “like” the T-BONES & Cactus Jack’s page, post the photo on the Etch A Sketch contest page and see how many people “like” your unique artwork.
The contest start date of July 12 is significant, since on that date in 1960, the Ohio Art Company began mass-producing the Etch A Sketch, modeled after a prototype created by French national Andre Cassagnes. The toy was introduced near the peak of the Baby Boom and is one of the best known toys of that era. It was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2003, and the Toy Industry Association named Etch A Sketch as one of the 100 most memorable and most creative toys of the 20th century. Fifty-five years later, the mechanical drawing toy remains an enduring and beloved pastime for both the young and the young-at-heart.

CEO/Co-owner Tom Boucher said he’s encountered some downright impressive Etch A Sketch art over the years and he felt the art form ought to be celebrated. “Very few people can resist the allure of the Etch A Sketch,” Boucher said with a laugh. “So this contest will be an absolute blast- both for the young artists and for the folks that visit our Facebook page each day!” The timing of the contest was to provide some added summertime fun for area families and celebrate this time-tested “unplugged” toy!
Prizes will be awarded to winners in three different age groups: Ages 4 and under, Ages 5-7 and Ages 8-12. First prize is a $300 gift card; second prize is a $100 gift card; and third prize is a $50 gift card. Photos must be posted by July 31, 2015 and voting ends Aug. 5, 2015.
