UPDATED: Rockland Avenue House Lost to Fire

Fire marshal says carelessly disposed of smoking materials in the backyard caused the blaze.

Fire and rescue teams were sent to 159 Rockland Avenue in Manchester for a house fire around 2 p.m. on May 7, 2015. The fire is located less than a block from Bedford.

Carelessly disposed of smoking materials in the backyard of the home is to blame, according to Manchester Fire Department investigators. This caused a grass fire spreading to the deck and then to the house which is a total loss, according to Jeffrey Hastings.

The woman home with her children quickly escaped the house, and awaited MFD who were there within minutes, he noted. Upon arrival, firefighters were faced with live power lines down which had been burnt thru, and water issues.
