MANCHESTER, NH — A man from Manchester faces charges after being accused of driving dangerously and crashing a BMW SUV on Interstate 293 on Sunday night.

Around 8 p.m., New Hampshire State Police were sent to a report of a rollover on the highway near the Exit 5 Granite State overpass. When they arrived, they found a driver, Barnaba Madol, 36, of Manchester, partially thrown out of the sunroof of a BMW during the crash. Two women, who were passengers, were also injured during the crash, Tyler Dumont, the public information officer for state police, said.

“While the crash remains under investigation,” he said, “troopers have gathered information from witnesses who indicated the driver was operating at dangerous speeds and swerving through traffic leading up to the crash.”

State police said Madol was driving the SUV on the southbound side of the highway when, “according to witnesses, the driver lost control and went into the center median.” The SUV then rolled as it crossed over to the northbound side of I-293, sliding on its roof across the Interstate.

After being pried from the vehicle, Madol was taken to the Elliot Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was arrested later on a suspended license charge and is due in court later this summer. Madol may face more charges, Dumont said.

The women were taken to Catholic Medical Center with minor injuries.

The northbound side of the highway was closed for about an hour during the investigation and cleanup.
