Jewish National Fund-USA and the Jewish Federation honor local FD

In recognition of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Jewish National Fund-USA (JNF-USA) in partnership with the Jewish Federation of New Hampshire honored Manchester Fire Department’s first responders at a moving ceremony last month.

Guests in attendance included: Manchester Mayor, Joyce Craig; Manchester Fire Chief Matt Lamothe; JFNH Israel Education and Engagement, Chair Evelyn Miller; JFNH Board Chair Ken Litvack; JFNH Shaliach, Ra’anan de-Haas; Temple Adath Yeshurun, Rabbi Beth Davidson; JFNH Board Member, Pat Kalik; and JNF-USA Israel Programs Admissions Director, Dana Klein.

Klein said: “As we mark 20 years since 9/11, JNF-USA recognizes the importance of honoring the firefighters and first responders who worked tirelessly to save as many lives as possible on that fateful day, as well as everyday first responders in local communities such as Manchester who continue to serve our communities day and night.

The Manchester fire department received a framed plaque of JNF-USA’s 9/11 Living Memorial in Jerusalem in recognition of their service.

JNF-USA’s 9/11 Living Memorial in Jerusalem, Israel, is the only commemorative site of its type outside of the U.S. that lists all the names of those who perished on 9/11. In addition to ceremonies held across the U.S., JNF-USA holds a commemoration ceremony every year at the memorial in Jerusalem with members and veterans from the US Armed Forces, first responders, airline staff, diplomats, and other dignitaries in attendance.

During the ceremony, Klein added: “JNF-USA’s 9/11 Living Memorial in Jerusalem, is a testament to the deep connection between Israel and the U.S. and serves as an everlasting symbol of the shared values of peace, religious tolerance and democracy between the United States and Israel.”
