Maine Man Charged With Attempted Murder, Reckless Conduct In NH

Jeremey Sterling of Waterboro was arrested yesterday after a woman was reportedly shot multiple times on Brown Avenue in the Queen City.

MANCHESTER, NH — A Maine man was arrested yesterday on an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting a New Hampshire woman in the parking lot of a housing project on Brown Avenue, according to police. Jeremey Sterling, 25, of Waterboro, ME, was arrested on Nov. 23, 2017, on attempted murder and reckless conduct charges. Police were sent to the area of Brown Avenue and O’Malley Street at just before 3 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

They arrived at the scene and learned that a woman who reportedly sustained several gunshot wounds and was being treated at a local emergency room as a result of an incident. Several occupants of apartments in the area also discovered bullet holes in their homes, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department.

“Officers spoke with multiple witnesses who claimed to have seen the shooting incident take place,” he noted. “This does not appear to be a random act of violence as both parties are known to one another.”

Police found Sterling in the parking lot shortly after the incident took place, O’Keefe added, and he was arrested. He’s being held and will be arraigned today.

According to online reports, Sterling has previously been arrested at least twice in Maine. Fosters.com noted that last year, he was arrested for driving to endanger and possessing a usable amount of marijuana on Sanford, ME. In 2012, according to South Portland, ME, police, he was arrested on possession of marijuana-sale, use of drug paraphernalia, and violating condition of release.
