Man Drowns in the Piscataquog River

Fire and rescue teams, New Hampshire Marine Patrol spend an hour attempting to find a man who was swimming and later drowned.

Manchester Fire and Rescue teams along with New Hampshire Marine Patrol and Goffstown Police attempted to rescue a man from a popular swimming hole along the Piscataquog River this afternoon around 5 p.m. that later, drowned.

According to Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography, departments launched a number of boats while a firefighter also got into the water searching for the man. After about an hour, they located the man and pulled him from the water. EMTs performed CPR and transported him to Catholic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A woman at the scene, who was eight months pregnant, started having contractions due to the stress of the situation and was transported to Elliot Hospital.

New Hampshire State Police said the victim’s name would be released once the next of kin was contacted. The incident remains under investigation.
