Man Tased After Allegedly Assaulting Cop While Fleeing From Stop
Pedro Jimenez, a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Saturday in Manchester, was wanted on an active warrant.

MANCHESTER, NH — A Queen City man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly striking a police officer while attempting to flee a traffic stop, according to police. Pedro Jimenez, 36, of Manchester, was arrested on Nov. 11, 2017, for felony resisting arrest or detention, criminal mischief, simple assault, and a bench warrant. An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop at Chestnut and Myrtle streets in Manchester at around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday due to an infraction, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department.

After stopping the pickup truck and speaking to the driver and a passenger – Jimenez – the officer ran a check on both men, according to the report. As the officer returned to the vehicle, Jimenez allegedly jumped out and attempted to flee the area. The officer caught up with Jimenez, who fell to the ground, and attempted to place him into handcuffs.

“Jimenez struck the officer several times and eventually, escaped his grasp,” O’Keefe stated.
Jimenez ran to the rear of a home on Myrtle street while the officer Tased him. Jimenez allegedly got up again and ran south toward Orange Street. At the intersection with Chestnut Street, the officer was able to tackle Jimenez and place him in a single handcuff “even though he continued to assault the officer,” according to a report.

A second officer arrived and Jimenez was brought under the control, charged, and held. He’s due in court today.
The officer was injured and taken to Elliot Hospital where he was treated for a concussion and minor abrasions.
