Manchester Man Charged with Murder

Jordan Gamache has been charged with the murder of Ryan Chafin, a counselor, after an incident on Tuesday on Douglas Street in Manchester.

MANCHESTER, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and the Manchester Police Department announced on Friday night the arrest of a man on a second-degree murder charge. Jordan Gamache, 34, was arrested and charged with shooting Ryan Chafin, 39, multiple times with a firearm earlier this week.

Investigators were sent to 534 Douglas St. in Manchester at a little after 3 a.m. on March 28, for a report of a deceased man in the home. Limited information was released at the time with investigators only saying that it was an untimely death and an autopsy would be performed the next day to determine the cause, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.

The incident was later determined to be a homicide by multiple gun wounds.

Earlier tonight, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported that according to police arrest logs, Gamache, who was Chafin’s roommate, was taken into protective custody not long after police arrived at the home. The PC, according to the report, was not previously disclosed by police and the NH AG’s Office refused comment on the PC. Chafin, the report noted, was a divorced father who counseled runaway teens and the homeless. The building’s owner, Ben Gamache, a known landlord in the city.

About 20 minutes before police arrived at the home, Gamache – or someone accessing his Facebook account – posted “LIVE FREE OR DIE” on his thread. It had been the first post on his account since August 2016.

Gamache is due in court on April 3.
