Manhunt Underway For Man Police Say Pointed Gun At Woman, Child

Franklin Castillo, 27, of Manchester is wanted by police after he was accused of threatening a woman and child on Lake Avenue on Tuesday.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police and New Hampshire State Police troopers searched a large area of Manchester on Tuesday looking for a criminal threat suspect.

Police are looking for Franklin Castillo, 27, of Manchester in connection with a domestic violence incident that occurred early Tuesday.

"(On) Tuesday at approximately 1 a.m., Manchester Police received a report about a domestic violence incident on Lake Ave," Heather Hamel, a spokesperson for the department, said. "The victim told police that Castillo had pointed a gun at her and her baby and threatened to kill her. The victim told police Castillo had since left in a car and had taken the gun with him. Castillo is wanted on multiple charges in connection to the incident."

State police deployed a helicopter while Manchester officers searched the area on foot and used a K-9 unit and SWAT team, too.

Police said Castillo’s car was located in the area of Auburn South Back and Beech Street — but it was unoccupied. Responding officers spotted someone meeting his description at one point. The man, however, did not comply with their commands to stop and officers eventually lost sight of him. A perimeter was set up and a search began, Hamel said.

Shortly after, there was a report of a crash on Interstate 93. Through their investigation, police believed Castillo may have switched cars and was involved in that accident.

The vehicle was unoccupied when troopers arrived on the scene. The department's helicopter was deployed to search the area. After several hours, the search was suspended.

Castillo is wanted on felony criminal threatening, felony theft, reckless conduct, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless conduct, and disobeying a police officer charges.

Castillo is a Hispanic man, with long dreadlocks. Police said his description is contrary to the photo provided as it was taken by Lawrence Police Department in 2015. Castillo was last seen wearing shorts, a dark T-shirt, and white shoes.

Castillo is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information about this incident you are asked to call the Manchester Police Detective Division at 603-792-5500.
