Here are the top stories today in Bedford:
- With cases on the rise, more people in New Hampshire are eligible for the monkeypox vaccine. Health officials said that anyone at high risk of infection, or who has been exposed to someone with a confirmed case of monkeypox, can get the JYNNEOS vaccine. But those who would like to get a monkeypox vaccination should first get a referral from a health care provider. The vaccine is available through city health departments and several Convenient Med Centers, including Bedford. (Seacoast Current)
- Register to vote for the September election by Wednesday, Sept. 7. The Supervisors of the Checklist will meet from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, at the Bedford Town Offices, 24 North Amherst Road to approve the additions, deletions, changes of name and address, and other updates to the checklist. The sessions are open to the public. In the announcement, officials said it is not possible to change party affiliation until after the Sept. 13 State Primary Election. "Unless you are registered as undeclared on the day of the election, you will be given the ballot for the party you are affiliated with." (Bedford Patch)
- "It's Be Kind to Humankind Week," for the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains. Maybe we can all join in this week and celebrate being kind. In a recent social media post they noted, "Kindness can come in many ways, shapes, and forms, such as giving up your seat to a stranger. Dedicate this week to doing one good thing for someone else." Way to go, Girl Scouts! The headquarters of the Girls Scouts of the Green and White Mountains is in Bedford, N.H. (Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains via Facebook)
