MANCHESTER, NH — A man from Manchester faces more than a dozen charges after being accused of getting into an altercation with a woman, assaulting an elderly man with a chair, and injuring a dog early Sunday morning on Pine Avenue.

Around 1 a.m., police were sent to Pine Avenue off Brown Avenue for a report of a domestic incident. When they arrived, they heard someone yelling for help from the rear of a building. According to Heather Hamel, a public information officer for the department, officers found two men — one naked and the other, covered in blood, on a porch.

“The naked man started yelling at police, making threats, and charging at officers,” she said. “An officer deployed a Taser multiple times in an effort to subdue the man. Several officers worked to get the man into custody and were successful.”

The man was identified as Donald Pierce, 55, of Manchester.

During the investigation, Hamel said police learned Pierce was involved in “a physical altercation” with a woman at a nearby home. After that incident, he encountered a man in his mid-80s, letting out his dog, she said. Pierce was accused of assaulting the man “with his fists and a chair” and also injuring the dog.

“The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries,” Hamel said. “It was determined that Pierce and the victim did not know each other.”

Pierce was arrested on first-degree assault, second-degree assault-domestic violence, criminal threatening, and criminal mischief charges, all felonies, as well as resisting arrest, criminal trespass, indecent exposure, criminal mischief, cruelty to animals, and four simple assault charges.

Pierce was held on preventative detention and has a probable cause hearing booked for July 16.
