New Boston Man Arrested on Bank Robbery Charge

Police make an arrest after an incident last night. Suspect Robert Ruggiero has previously been arrested for burglary, heroin, other crimes.

GOFFSTOWN, NH — With the help of the public and the press, officers in the Goffstown Police Department were able to quickly make an arrest after the Citizens Bank on Church Street was robbed yesterday afternoon, according to police. Robert A. Ruggiero, 23, of New Boston, was arrested on Feb. 8, 2017, on a single felony count of robbery.

Police were called to the bank at just after 4:30 p.m. for a report of a man passing a note to the teller and demanding cash, according to an alert. Following what police called “an active investigation” with “great help from both our media and community partners,” a suspect was identified and in custody in about five hours, police noted.

Ruggiero was held on $10,000 cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Goffstown District Court on Feb. 9.

Ruggiero is no stranger to police, according to reports online.

He was arrested in Bedford in July of last year on escape, driving after revocation or suspension, disobeying an officer, and a warrant, after a traffic stop on South River Road. In May 2014, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader, Ruggiero was arrested while walking on Bridge Street, allegedly in possession of heroin, a needle, and a spoon with residue. Goffstown Police also arrested him in October 2013 on a burglary charge.
