NHSP: Man was Going 119 mph on Everett Turnpike
Luis Torres of Manchester was arrested in Bedford after allegedly speeding, using his cellphone.

A local man is due in Merrimack District Court next month after being arrested on the Everett Turnpike in Bedford this morning, according to state police.
Luis M. Torres, 29, of Manchester, was arrested on Sept. 4, 2015, and charged with reckless driving and use of a mobile electronic device prohibited.

According to state police, a trooper entering onto the Everett Turnpike in Bedford traveling north from Raymond Wieczorek Drive reportedly saw a 2006 Infiniti traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was reportedly passing drivers on the right. The trooper then clocked the vehicle going 119 mph in a 55 zone, according to a report.
The trooper stopped the vehicle and during the course of the investigation, “determined that (Torres) had been distracted by the use of a handheld mobile electronic device.” He was then arrested and released on personal recognizance bail. He’s due in court on Oct. 8.

In a statement, Lt. Matthew Shapiro said, “The NH State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind drivers of the necessity to remain vigilant of their surroundings, monitor their speed, and avoid using mobile hand held electronic devices while driving.”
