Nursing Home Aide Arrested for Stealing Jewelry from Patients: Report
Megan Lakos of Londonderry was charged after allegedly targeting patients at a Bedford nursing home.

BEDFORD, NH — A woman was arrested yesterday after an investigation into missing jewelry at a local nursing home that was pawned later, according to police. Megan Lakos, 24, of Londonderry, was arrested on Jan. 12, 2017, and charged with three counts of theft by unauthorized taking. Two of the charges are felonies, according to Chief John J. Bryfonski of the Bedford Police Department.

An investigation into missing jewelry started in October 2016 after a local nursing home reported three times that various jewelry items went missing from patients' rooms, according to a press statement.

“An investigation by Bedford Police Detectives revealed that Lakos was stealing jewelry from residents' rooms and taking the pieces to a local pawn shop to sell,” Bryfonski alleged. “A warrant was issued for her arrest.”
The items included wedding rings, according to the investigation.

After being arrested, Lakos was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail. She’s due in Merrimack District Court on Feb. 9.
Police did not release any information about the business itself or Lakos' employment status.
