NY, NH Men Busted On Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

Edward Roberts of Manchester and Jonathan Lane of Brooklyn were arrested last night after alleged violations near the Bridge Street Bridge.

MANCHESTER, NH — A motor vehicle stop led to charges against two as well as the alleged seizure of cash and drugs in the Queen City last night, according to police. Arrested on June 20, 2017, were Edward Roberts, 37, pictured left, of Manchester, for possession of drugs with intent to distribute and possession of drugs, and Jonathan Lane, 32, of Brooklyn, NY, for possession of drugs. At just before 6:30 p.m. last night, an officer stopped a 1999 Buick Regal after two reported infractions, including failing to use required turn signals, before driving onto the Bridge Street Bridge, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department.

“The officer approached the vehicle, which smelled like burnt marijuana, and noted two additional subjects seated in the car,” according to O’Keefe. “(A second) officer arrived on scene and began speaking to the rear seat passenger, who originally provided a false name.”

All three men reportedly exited the vehicle and the owner of the car granted consent to search the vehicle. Officers allegedly found Roberts in possession of more than 100 grams of crack cocaine, 6.4 grams of marijuana, and $5,000 in cash, according to the report. Lane allegedly possessed 2.4 grams of marijuana.

Both men were arrested at the scene while the owner of the vehicle was not charged and released from the scene. Roberts and Lane were scheduled to appear in Manchester District Court earlier today, according to O’Keefe.
