Nyquist Names Prominent Endorsers

State Senate candidate says he has strong support from through District 9, with potential colleagues.

NEW BOSTON, NH — Community leader, father, and New Boston’s Town Moderator Lee Nyquist announced a groundswell of support from across the towns of Senate District 9 today.

“I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support from other leaders throughout our community and state,” said Nyquist in a press statement, who received endorsements from six of the 12 Democratic state Representatives representing towns in District 9, four currently serving state Senators, four Selectboard Chairs from towns across the district, and Executive Councilor Chris Pappas.

“I'm proud to endorse Lee Nyquist for State Senate in District 9," said Executive Councilor Chris Pappas. "I know Lee to be a person of character and vision with a fierce commitment to making real progress in the lives of working men and women across new Hampshire. Lee supports modernizing and expanding our state's transportation system, including passenger rail service to Boston. Lee will also fight to support our schools and protect access to quality, affordable healthcare for all New Hampshire families. There’s much more work ahead of us in building a better future for our state — and we need allies like Lee ready to roll up their sleeves and get the job done."

“Years as a court certified mediator and as a Town Moderator have prepared Lee for working in the Senate, where collaboration and civil discourse are keys to success. I firmly believe in the necessity of working to secure the future of New Hampshire’s working families through education, workplace fairness, and the promotion of a reasonable minimum wage. Lee Nyquist walks the same pathway, and I am therefore proud to fully endorse him as the best Democratic candidate to defeat the extremist Andy Sanborn in November,” said state Rep. Doug Ley.

“There are two things that are very important to me: Education and energy,” said state Rep. Marge Shepardson, “in both of these areas Lee Nyquist would make an outstanding Senator for District 9.”

“I have known Lee personally and professionally for more than 30 years. In that time, I’ve come to admire his capacity to see, decide and solve problems that would elude others. He has my full confidence, and I enthusiastically endorse his candidacy for State Senate,” said state Rep. David Woodbury.

“Cheshire County families have a true champion in my friend Lee Nyquist. Over the years I have known him, Lee has been a tireless advocate for our working families. As Senator, Lee will work hard to ensure that their interests are protected. We need more people like Lee in the New Hampshire state Senate, and he has my strongest endorsement,” said Cheshire County Commissioner Stillman Rogers.

Nyquist, whose endorsers come from throughout Senate District 9, has built momentum in the race as his collaborative consensus-building approach to advocacy for all of New Hampshire's families becomes more widely known.

"I look forward to working with all of my supporters during the next legislative session to make sure our public schools are fully-funded from pre-kindergarten through their post-secondary levels, to ensure coverage for nearly 50,000 Granite Staters and the survival of our rural hospitals by renewing Medicaid Expansion, and working tirelessly to find new ways to combat the scourge of substance abuse," said Nyquist.
