OBITUARY: Pizza Bella Co-Owner John E. Zgonis

"Yianni" was 54 years old.

John “Yianni” E. Zgonis, of Bedford, NH, passed away on May 21, 2012, from a sudden illness.

Born in Rodia, Greece on September 25, 1957, he was the son of Efthemios and Vasiliki (Hasiotis) Zgonis. He was raised in Grevena, Greece and resided in Milford for many years. He moved to Bedford in 2002.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree in electrical engineering from the University of Lowell.

He co-owned and operated Pizza Bella in Bedford since 1991.

Yainni will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father.  He was happiest when spending time with his family. He was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed riding his soft-tail motorcycle. He was a skilled handyman who could repair anything. He also enjoyed traveling.

In addition to his parents of Greece, family members include his wife of twenty six years, Aphrodite (Vasilopoulos) Zgonis of Bedford; three daughters, Vickie, Litsa, and Themie all of Bedford; his sister, Anthoula of Greece.

Services: Calling hours are tonight from 5 to 9 p.m., at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord and Union Streets, in Manchester.

The Trisagion service will take place this evening at 7:15 p.m., in the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 12 p.m. in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis Street, Nashua, with the Rev. Thomas Chininis, officiating.

Burial will take place in West Lawn Cemetery, Lowell, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hellenic Cardiac Fund, Boston Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Avenue, Boston, MA 02115.
