Police: This is the Man Who Tried to Rob World War II Vet

Tips from the public proved "instrumental" in identifying David Farnsworth of Manchester as the alleged culprit in the May 2 incident.

David Farnsworth, 42, of Manchester, turned himself in to police early this morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest last week.

According to police, the victim was leaving the Walgreen’s on Valley Street on May 2, and was accosted by an unknown assailant who attempted to rob him. The vet fought off the attack and a Good Samaritan jumped in to assist. The suspect fled the scene.

“Several tips,” according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department, came in and “proved instrumental in assisting with this capture” after detectives began following up on all of the information they were receiving about the incident. A warrant was issued for Farnsworth and he came into headquarters this morning. He was arraigned earlier today in Manchester District Court.
