Provident Bank Grant to Boost Girl Scouts’ Afterschool Programs

The $1,000 provided by the bank will go to 21st Century Community Learning Centers.

BEDFORD, NH — A $1,000 grant from Provident Bank will help Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains provide after-school programs for underserved girls in greater Manchester. Following on the heels of a successful program pilot this past year, Girl Scouts will continue its partnership with 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) in inner-city Manchester, according to a press statement.

In the coming year, Girl Scouts plans to expand its reach, serving over 150 at-risk girls. The program targets girls who would otherwise be unable to access a traditional Girl Scout troop.

“Our partnership with 21st CCLC is unique in our ability to share resources,” said Patricia Mellor, CEO for Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains. Those resources include onsite staff members, program supplies, and uniforms. Mellor noted the program is a “critical investment in the future,” as it provides leadership-based and empowering programs for underserved girls.
