MANCHESTER, NH — A man from Manchester, who owns a gym in the city, was arrested on assault charges after a girl accused him of touching her inappropriately in May.

The girl, who was volunteering at the gym, was brought to The Training Station on Elm Street by the owner, Terry Dow, 51, of Manchester, according to Heather Hamel, the public information officer for the Manchester Police Department.

“While at the gym,” she said, “Dow entered the women’s locker room, where the teen was cleaning and touched her in an inappropriate manner. Afterward, Dow told the teen not to tell her parents. However, the girl did confide in trusted adults that day, and an investigation began.”

Police investigated the incident and “determined that Dow’s actions amounted to assault,” and a warrant was issued for his arrest for felonious sexual assault, a felony, and simple assault, Hamel said. He turned himself into the police on Thursday and was released on personal recognizance.

Dow is due in court for arraignment on July 25.
