Red Flag Warning Issued for Much of the Granite State

Forecasters say there is a serious danger of fires accelerating uncontrollably due to dry air, breezes.

The National Weather Service has issued a “red flag warning” no burning alert for much of New Hampshire due to “dangerous fire weather conditions” on April 15, 2015.

The alert runs from 11 a.m. through 7 p.m. across New Hampshire, including Hillsborough, Merrimack, and Rockingham counties.

According to the alert, a “very dry air mass” and “breezy westerly winds” will create conditions that could potentially spread fires rapidly. Northwest winds are expected to run anywhere from 10 to 15 mph with gusts of up to 25 mph, according to forecasters. Humidity will run as low as 19 percent.
