Report: Christie Pigged Out at NFL Games on NJ Taxpayers' Dime
Potential NH Republican first-in-the-nation candidate reportedly spent $82K at football games, $360K of his state allowance in five years.

State records put together by New Jersey Watchdog purport to show that Gov. Chris Christie, R-NJ, has spent $360,000 of his state allowance during five years in office including more than $82,000 spent at NFL games, according to Mendham-Chester NJ Patch.
Christie used a debit card on 58 occasions to pay a total of $82,594 for concessions at MetLife, according to the report. Christie’s office refused to provide receipts to the watchdog group but also defending the spending practices.
“The official nature and business purpose of the event remains the case regardless of whether the event is at the State House, Drumthwacket or a sporting venue,” said Christie’s press secretary Kevin Roberts in a prepared statement.

Previous spending and gift-taking habits by Christie have been under the microscope before. In 2012, Sheldon G. Adelson, the billionaire casino owner and supporter of Israel, lent Christie his private plane so the governor could go on a trade mission to Israel, according to The New York Times.
While Christie hasn’t announced a potential run for president, most in New Hampshire speculate that he’ll jump into what has already become a very crowded field of Republican candidates. Most recent polls have him near the bottom of the list, in single digits.
