Nashua Bertucci's Ceiling Structure Collapses on Diner

Three people were hospitalized after a huge ceiling structure collapsed at the Nashua Bertucci's Monday, according to the fire department.

NASHUA, NH — Three people were hurt at the Nashua Bertucci's Monday afternoon after a ceiling structure collapsed on a crowd. Rescue personnel descended on the 406 Amherst St. restaurant at about 2 p.m.

The structure that collapsed was a "cloud" made of aluminum studs and sheetrock that held decorative items and lighting, according to Nashua Deputy fire Chief Glen MacDonald. Two women and a man were hurt; MacDonald said their conditions were "not known" after they were transported to local hospitals. Their names were not released.

The cloud structure was 8 feet by 12 feet, MacDonald said.

"We have temporarily closed this restaurant to investigate the situation and to ensure the location is safe," the Bertucci's spokesperson said. "Safety is our first priority, and we are currently working with local officials to complete the investigation and to determine when we will reopen.”

Multiple ambulances responded to the scene and a "trauma alert" was activated for nearby hospitals.
