NH Restaurant Owner Dies in Multi-Vehicle Everett Turnpike Crash

NHSP: A Merrimack woman was also injured this morning as a result of the accident in Nashua.

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police have released the name of a New Hampshire man who perished in a multi-vehicle accident on Jan. 8, 2016, on the Everett Turnpike in Nashua, according to a press statement. Bao Ming Chen, 44, of West Lebanon, was struck at the crash scene after exiting his vehicle after being rear-ended, according to Sgt. Steven J. Wheeler of the New Hampshire State Police.

Troopers as well as Nashua Fire and Rescue teams were sent to the area of Mile Marker 4.2 on the southbound side of the highway at just before 8 a.m. for a report of numerous vehicles involved in an accident due to icy roads and glare on those roads this morning.

The department’s investigation revealed that Chen, who was driving a 2016 Acura MDX, attempted to come to a stop due to traffic ahead when he was rear-ended by a 23-year-old woman from Merrimack driving a 2008 Ford Focus. Chen got out of his vehicle when he was struck by man from Hudson, of an unknown age, driving a 2004 Acura RSX.

Chen was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Merrimack woman suffered minor injuries and was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

The Hudson man who reportedly struck Chen did not suffer any injuries, Wheeler noted.


The crash investigation is being handled by the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R. Unit), Wheeler noted. No charges have been filed in the case.

Chen was the owner operator of the Koto Japanese Restaurant on Plainfield Road in West Lebanon, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.
