SB 43 Wants to "Study Barriers to High-Density Construction"

New Urbanism has invaded New Hampshire

Most people move to NH for its rural/semi-rural atmosphere. But some want to turn towns into cities, or at least, connect them to nearby cities in order to become part of a global network of "megacities" envisioned by the regionalists. The Bedford Residents Assocation has been tracking bills that would make it easier for developers to override local control and proceed with projects that come under the description of "high-density infill". But is this right for Bedford? Most think it is not and proved that by voting at March 2019 town meeting to restrict building heights and keep high-density projects out of the Rte 101 corridor.

A bill recently listed on BRA's Bill Watch page is SB 43.

SB 43 would establish a commission to study barriers to increased density of land development in New Hampshire.

Clearly this bill was proposed on behalf of developers without regard to whether the actual inhabitants of a locality want more higher density.

This bill PASSED the full Senate. It has now been assigned to the House Municipal and County Government Committee.

Email the House Municipal and County Government Committee and ask them to “ITL” this bill.
