Schneller Wins Bedford Town Council Seat by 8 Votes
Voters also approve a Constitutional amendment initiative petition overturning Citizens United.

Voters went to the polls on March 10, 2015, in Bedford and cast ballots in two competitive races as well as a number of warrant articles.
In the Town Council race, Melissa Stevens came in first with 2,008 votes with Bill Duschatko receiving 1,713 votes to take second place. Also winning a seat was John Schneller who beat Frank Sledjeski, 1,209 to 1,201.
Town voters approved all of the articles by hefty margins. Voters also approved an initiative petition resolution supporting a Constitutional amendment overturning the Citizens United decision by more than 500 votes.

In the school board race, Cindy Chagnon topped the ticker with 1,505 votes followed by Philip Schappler, who received 1,226 votes. Lawrence Cheetham received 1,118 but fell short as did Audra Schwoerer, who earned 1,003 votes.
All the articles on the school ballots were also approved by solid margins.

Only 17 percent of the town’s voters participated in the election, according to the town clerk, while 18 percent of the town cast ballots in the school race.
Voters also cast a number of eclectic and funny write-in votes on the town ballot including votes for Dr. Ron Paul, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Joe Biden, and Vermin Supreme, according to the results. On the school ballot, Obama, Biden, Bush, and the late Leonard Nimoy all received votes.
