Here are the top three stories in Bedford today:
- Manchester police have identified the woman found dead Christmas morning in a tent outside of the Families In Transition Homeless Shelter in Manchester as 34-year-old Amanda Hartness. Manchester police assisted the public works department as they worked outside the Families In Transition Shelter Wednesday to clean up trash and abandoned property, including some tents. A tent belonging to Hartness was left intact so that the woman's next of kin could remove any belongings and personal items. (Patch)
- Last week's storm, which left 20 inches of wet, heavy snow in parts was followed by relatively stable weather this week. But the upcoming weekend may prove to be challenging as a new storm system moves into the region. The National Weather Service forecast calls for snow overnight followed by snow and rain Friday morning. Power crews are gearing up to repair any downed lines and outages expected to occur during the upcoming storm. (conwaydailysun.com)
- Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic continues to fight the town of Bedford over its request to be exempt from property taxes as a charitable organization. A lawsuit was filed in September in Hillsborough County Superior Court, following others filed the past two years. The clinic, which has been incorporated as a nonprofit since 1983, seeks a reversal of the town's decision and asks a judge to declare the clinic a charitable organization. (Ground News )
