Bedford High School Theatre Company
will be presenting Moliere’s Tartuffe
May 14-16. Considered one of the greatest comedies ever written, Tartuffe is a play about a wealthy
businessman, Orgon, who is duped by Tartuffe, an itinerant con man posing as a
pious preacher, into giving away all of his possessions to him. Exploring the
theme of religious hypocrisy, this classic play has sparked many controversies
over its 350 years of history. By setting it in the modern era, the Bedford
High School Theatre Company will highlight that, though the times may have
changed, human behavior has not.
