Three Alarm Fire in Goffstown

UPDATED: Area firefighters are at the scene of a blaze at an auto repair shop on Mast Road.

GOFFSTOWN, NH - Fire and rescue teams from around the region at are a fire on Mast Road in Goffstown at this hour.

The fire was first reported at around 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2016, that formerly houses Shreve’s Gary Auto Repair & Customizing, Jutras Signs, and Ben Franklin Printing. The building was reportedly unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Firefighters set up defensive operations to try to save the a restaurant next door. The restaurant received heat damage, and other collateral damage, according to Jeffrey Hastings, who was at the scene and took these pictures.

Manchester and Londonderry firefighters were also at the scene.

He stated that there were unconfirmed reports that an auto parts company had recently purchased the building and “may have been storing items in the building including chemicals.” The New Hampshire Fire Marshal is investigating.

The New Hampshire/Vermont Region of the American Red Cross also responding to the fire scene to assist support about 60 first responders with food and drinks as they fought the fire, according to Janet Vaughn of the Red Cross.

"The American Red Cross has a long standing tradition of supporting first responders during disasters," she noted. "From large fires to lengthy disaster events, the Red Cross structure is well suited to work with first responders in offering support and care for them during their work. Red Cross volunteers set up sites for food, snacks, drinks and coffee, as well as emotional support so that first responders can focus on their important work."


Hastings, who also runs the Manchester Information Facebook site, reported that chemicals in the building were reportedly burning and the fire was spreading quickly. A second alarm was called a few minutes after the initial report came in. A third alarm was called at 2:05 p.m., according to alerts online.
