Weathervane Closes Four Locations
Family owned seafood chain shutters establishments due to "current economic conditions."

Weathervane Seafood Restaurants has closed four of its 11 locations during the last month, according to the restaurant’s website.
The closed locations – one in Bedford and three in Maine – were closed due to “current economic conditions,” according to a notice posted on the chain’s website by owner, Terry Gagner. The decision, he noted, was a regretful one, but he added that the chain would continue to offer “high quality food and drink at reasonable prices” at other locations.
Five New Hampshire locations – Chichester, Dover, Salem, Nashua, and West Lebanon – remain open. A location in Kittery, ME, the flagship restaurant, will remain open as well. A Belfast, ME, location will be open seasonally.

Jeremy Gagner, the current COO and a third generation family member working at the restaurant, said they wished the staff that was losing their jobs the best of luck in their future endeavors.
“My family and I are sorry to have to make this difficult decision and truly appreciate the hard work provided by our staffs and thank each of them for their dedication,” he noted.

The chain, founded in Maine in the late 1960s, didn’t offer specifics about the closures in that state when asked by the Portland Press Herald late last month.
