In the last six years, Bedford has seen a plethora of well-known national chains plant roots in town.

and kicked things off when they opened in the fall of 2005. Applebee's and Bugaboo Creek soon followed in the same development.

The Bedford Mall, recently in complete disrepair, has been nearly demolished. Gone are Papa Gino's, the rundown movie theater and the vacant MVP/Decathlon building. In their footprint, , and remain, a new has opened, a department store is being built and new and exciting additions are also expected to join the surge.

and CR Sparks has been demolished in favor of IRA Motor Group's Lexus dealership, which will open its doors in 2012.

Several ideas are being considered by developers and the Bedford Planning Board in terms of the future of the historic Wayfarer Inn site as well.

Though Bugaboo Creek sits vacant after an unsuccessful stint in Bedford and Applebee's has been transformed into an , the vast majority of other businesses have proven widely successful.
