Young Women of Distinction Event Celebrates Girl Scout Greatness
Girl Scouts from New Hampshire, Vermont will gather at Manchester Community College this weekend for the Young Women of Distinction event.

Set for Saturday, Nov. 14, the annual Young Women of Distinction ceremony formally recognizes girls whose community and council contributions embody the Girl Scouts mission of making the world a better place. T
he ceremony, which will be attended by council and state officials, area legislators, and other dignitaries, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at Manchester Community College, which is located at 1066 Front St. in Manchester.
Among the girls being honored are this past year’s Girl Scout Gold Award and Silver Award recipients, girls who participated in this past year’s Girls Rock the Capitol program, girls who explored their nation and their world as part of the Girl Scouts Destinations program, and accomplished “Cookie Divas” that achieved top sales quotas during last winter’s Girl Scout cookie season.

Three Young Women of Distinction will be honored for their exemplary Gold award projects. These young women were nominated for the GSUSA National Young Women of Distinction program, and will receive scholarships through the council from Bank of New Hampshire and Northwest Mutual.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is earned by less than six percent of eligible registered Girl Scouts. The highest award a Girl Scout can achieve, this national honor represents months of a girls’ time, leadership, ingenuity, and efforts to impact lasting change in her community.
