The Concord School District had a very busy year in 2012, with the construction and opening of three new elementary schools and the sale of some of its older school buildings.
The new schools had some problems right out of the gate from leaking roofs to traffic pattern issues which have led many in the community to question some of the decisions made by board members in the past.
The district and its school board also made some controversial decisions this year.
Some of those decisions included the hiring a former school board member as the district’s business administrator at a higher salary than the previous woman in the job even though he had no experience. Some board members were also kept out of the loop on the hiring process. There was also a suit against the district about records concerning the employment history of a high school teacher who is now a school board member that a judge later rejected because the request wasn’t made properly.
