ALLENSTOWN, NH — Allenstown and Pembroke police, fire and rescue teams, state troopers, and sheriff’s deputies were in Allenstown on Thursday afternoon to investigate a possible shooting.

Dispatch around 4 p.m. reported to police that they were receiving reports of a shooting in one of the manufactured homes on Sullivan Drive in the Bear View Crossing Cooperative manufactured home park. The report was a child had shot an adult. A Signal 1000 alert was issued, requesting non-emergency traffic to cease on the radio channel.

The lead officer asked if there was call history to the home and dispatch said it was limited — one visit in March and a welfare check in May 2023. Officers created a perimeter around the home and locked the area down in less than 15 minutes. According to scanner chatter, fire and EMS were requested to stage in the area while side streets were closed to the public to stop traffic.

Dispatch issued a reverse alert call to residents while speaking with other cooperative members about any issues in the area. They also confirmed receiving a “shots fired” call to a police nonemergency line. The call reportedly came from a neighboring home, dispatch said. County sheriffs also released a drone.

One dispatcher stated they were receiving a lot of calls, probably due to the police presence in the park, and asked for the operation commander to call into them.

Around 5:30 p.m., New Hampshire State Police posted a note about a “shelter-in-place” request on X-Twitter.

“The town has requested nearby residents to shelter in place,” state police said on X-Twitter. “#NHSP has not received any information indicating an imminent threat to public safety. Updates to follow.”

Just after the state police posted a notice, police, and a Bearcat approached the home.

At 6 p.m., the home was cleared and the Signal 1000 alert was lifted. It appears the call was a swatting incident.
