Police Find Man Dead In South Main Street Home In Laconia; State Investigating

The New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit and Laconia cops are investigating the incident after the man was found on Tuesday morning.

CONCORD, NH — A suspicious death investigation is underway in Laconia after police conducting a welfare check found a man dead inside a South Main Street home, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.

Attorney General John Formella said that members of the Attorney General's Office and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit were responding to the report. Officers with the Laconia Police Department went to the address on South Main Street on Tuesday morning. Police discovered the man dead inside the home.

The exact circumstances surrounding the death are now under active investigation. The AG's Office said the investigation was in its early stages and that there is no known threat to the public at this time. Officials did not identify the man or give his age. His name will be released after notification of next of kin, according to the attorney general's office. An autopsy will also be scheduled by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Officials did not comment on what prompted the welfare check or provide additional details about the circumstances inside the home.
