11 Semi-Finalists Announced For New Hampshire 2027 Teacher Of The Year

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Education has announced 11 semi-finalists for the 2027 New Hampshire Teacher of the Year Award.

The educators were selected from 124 nominees and 51 applicants.

The announcement marks the next step in the state’s Teacher of the Year process, which highlights educators from across New Hampshire. The department said a group of finalists will be chosen in May, and the winner of New Hampshire’s 2027 Teacher of the Year is expected to be announced in June.

“Get ready to meet our 11 semi-finalists — a dynamic group of educators who embody the passion, innovation, and dedication shaping classrooms across New Hampshire,” Richard Sala, the deputy commissioner of education and member of the Teacher of the Year Selection Committee, said. “These standout educators go above and beyond to inspire academic success, and we are eager to learn more about each of them as they move forward in this exciting journey.”

Commissioner Caitlin D. Davis also praised the educators and the role they play in schools across the state.

“The impact these educators are making in their classrooms and school communities is something to be proud of, and I’m grateful for the heart and determination they bring to their work,” she said. “We have so many talented and committed educators in New Hampshire, and this program helps to shine a spotlight on those who are making a profound difference in the field of education — helping students to grow, learn, and excel.”

The educators include:

• Gabriel Cohen of Concord High School

• Sean Curran of the Cooperative Middle School in Stratham

• Pamala Custer of Hanover High School

• Clare Delay of the Hollis Brookline Middle School

• Rebecca Fortgang of Pembroke Academy

• Amy Landry of the East Derry Elementary School

• Kimberly Lynch of the Green Acres Elementary School in Manchester

• Leslie Markowski of the Troy Elementary School

• Katherine McDonough of the Rundlett Middle School in Concord

• Kristen Nivison of the Henry W. Moore School in Candia

• Christa Powers of Pinkerton Academy in Derry

The recognition program centers on classroom teaching and the broader impact educators have in their school communities. For now, the semi-finalists remain in contention as the selection process continues. The next public milestone in the program is expected in May, when finalists are chosen, followed by the June announcement of the state’s 2027 Teacher of the Year, according to the department.
