CONCORD, NH — An elderly man from Concord is OK after experiencing a medical episode inside his car in Downtown Concord on Friday night.

Just before 11:15 p.m., an officer came upon a car stopped at the intersection of Loudon Road and North Main Street. The officer said the driver appeared to be passed out inside. The officer exited the police cruiser and approached the car, later identified as a Nissan Sentra, when the Sentra moved forward and bumped into the cruiser.

The officer reported the minor crash to dispatch and said they were OK because they were outside the cruiser when the vehicle was struck, according to scanner chatter. Other officers arrived to assist the first officer and control traffic at the scene.

News 603 posted a video on Facebook.

During an interview with the driver, 75, the officer said he was having a diabetic episode, and Concord fire and rescue teams were then dispatched to the scene. Firefighters assisted the driver, who later refused transportation.

A witness, a Hopkinton teenager in a pickup truck, was interviewed by police. A second witness, also a teenager, was interviewed by police. They cleared the scene just before 11:45 p.m.

Police reopened the intersection not long after.
