Brush Fire Near Concord Heights Homeless Camp Extinguished By Firefighters: Video

CONCORD, NH — Firefighters extinguished a brush fire not far from the former Steeplegate Mall property on Loudon Road Sunday afternoon.

Just before 5:30 p.m., Concord Fire Alarm began receiving reports of smoke in the area. About three minutes after alerting firefighters, dispatch told them more calls were coming in.

“We’ve received multiple calls now,” the dispatcher said, adding, “all the calls are advising it is going to be near the pond and they can see a brush fire.”

The first firefighters arrived and said the fire was not far from the former Sears location, and they would unlock the gate for forestry to enter and tackle it.

Firefighters reported the fire appeared to be about 100 by 100 feet of brush. The fire was not far from a homeless camp and the pond by the Steeplegate Pump Station.

The fire was knocked down just before 5:45 p.m., with the battalion commander saying they would be staying at the scene for overhaul.
