CONCORD, NH — Part of Downtown Concord is expected to be closed to traffic until at least 7 p.m. after a rollover crash sent two elderly people to the hospital on Monday afternoon.

Just after 5 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Loudon Road and North Main Street for a report of a rollover crash. When officers arrived, they found two vehicles involved in a collision on the western side of the intersection at Centre Street. Two people, an elderly driver and passenger, were injured and trapped inside a Chevrolet Trax crossover, which rolled during the crash. The second vehicle was an Acura RSX coupe.

Concord fire and rescue teams were requested, as well as other officers. County sheriff deputies and New Hampshire State Police troopers also responded to assist.

Officers shut down the intersection and used barriers set up in preparation for the Rock and Road Race on Wednesday to divert traffic. Traffic north on North Main Street was diverted at Park Street. Troopers also blocked the offramp on Interstate 93 South at Exit 14. Southbound Main Street traffic was diverted onto Storrs Street.

The driver of the Trax and their passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries. The driver of the Acura was reportedly OK, according to police.

Two trucks were requested for the vehicles.
