CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters investigated an explosion at an underground utility junction on Centre Street Friday night.
Around 6:30 p.m., Capital Fire Alarm began receiving reports about a smoking underground utility junction between North State and North Main streets, on the south side of Centre. When firefighters arrived, they found the top of the junction blown off and several feet away, with soot and dirt around the area, including the sidewalk and the street.
They inspected the area, found that it was no longer burning, and cordoned off the scene.
Utility workers were expected to be sent to the scene later in the evening.
